What it costs to build a small business website
The Flip Ledger LLC2 min read

If you run a small business, the first question about a website is usually the price. The honest answer is that it depends on what the website has to do. Here is how we think about it.
Three common levels
A business website is a professional site that works on every phone and helps turn visitors into customers. Our Business Website starts at $1,500 and is typically about a week.
A website with a customer portal adds a login area for your customers, so they can use bookings, forms, documents or account pages. It starts at $3,500 and is typically about a week.
A custom business app is full software built around how your business works, with user accounts, a database, dashboards and payments if needed. It starts at $7,500 and is scoped after a discovery call.
What is included in every project
Every project includes mobile-friendly design, a contact form with email alerts, Google search setup, website analytics, a speed check before launch, a handover guide and walkthrough, and 30 days of support after launch.
What you may pay later
We do not require a monthly fee. After launch, your main ongoing cost is your domain renewal. After the first 30 days you can choose an optional care plan, from $150 to $500 per month depending on the size of your website or app. It covers updates, backups, monitoring, security checks and a set amount of changes each month. You can also skip it.
How this compares
Monthly website builders charge a subscription for as long as you use them. Many agencies charge $6,000 or more and may ask for a monthly maintenance retainer. Paying once and owning what you paid for is a different way to buy.
How to know what you need
Start by writing down what a customer should be able to do on your site. Call you? Book? Pay? Log in? Share that with us and we will reply with questions and a clear quote before any work starts.
